The Minnesota Timberwolves have yet to express desire to trade Kevin Love this summer, but sources indicated that they will eventually pull the trigger for the right offer.
Multiple reports confirmed that the Golden State Warriors made a strong pitch to acquire Love in a trade involving David Lee, Harrison Barnes, and future draft picks, but the deal is dead according to Boston Globe's Baxter Holmes.
Holmes revealed that the two sides failed to reach a common ground as the Timberwolves insisted for the inclusion of Klay Thompson, but the Warriors did not budge.
With the Timberwolves-Warriors deal dead at this point, Holmes, citing sources close to the situation, named the Chicago Bulls and the Denver Nuggets as the frontrunners to acquire Love.
The Bulls are expected to make a run at several superstars this summer. They are continuously being linked to Carmelo Anthony, but Love is also on top of their list.
According to Chad Ford of ESPN, the Bulls are offering Taj Gibson, Tony Snell, and their two first-round picks in exchange for Love, but the Timberwolves are still playing the waiting game, looking for more attractive offers for their superstar power forward.
Reports also indicated that Chicago's pursuit of Love has Derrick Rose's vote of approval.
Mitch Lawrence of The New York Daily News reported that Rose is more interested in playing alongside Love than Anthony, saying that the former is more of a team player than the latter.
"According to sources close to Kevin Love, Rose's preference is for the Bulls to work out a deal as soon as possible for Minnesota's All-Star forward because he sees Love as more of a team player than Anthony," Lawrence wrote.
Rose has no plans to recruit Love, though, unlike what Joakim Noah did, or is continuously doing, with regards to Chicago's pursuit of Anthony, who officially announced on Monday that he will test free agency this summer.
The Nuggets, on the other hand, are considered as a contender to acquire Love after expressing willingness to offer Kenneth Faried, Wilson Chandler, and future picks in a trade package.
However, a deal is highly unlikely to happen because the Nuggets are expected to ask for long-term commitment from Love, whose interest in moving to Denver is very doubtful.
