Under The Dome season 1 wrapped up with Barbie going through an ordeal that is about to cost her life for Big Jim's crimes. Alice, one of the dome's emissaries then revealed that the dome was actually a protective barrier for Chester's Mill against the still unknown threats that are about to hit the planet. Executive producer Neal Baer has opened up about the upcoming season of the show, and according to him, "This is a season of transformation." Furthermore, Baer compared the new season with last year's first and said, "Last year was a season of secrets being revealed about our characters. Now, they really have to cope with the ramifications of what this all means, since it doesn't look like they're getting out any time soon." Then, he teased about the possibility of someone getting into the dome. "Maybe someone might possibly get out and someone might get in as well this year," Baer said. Meanwhile, Stephen King also dished about the storyline for the all-new season and even revealed that he had to watch the finale of the previous season. "I went back and looked at the last episode twice and I looked at the last scene about 15 times. Here is where Joe and the other teenagers are outside the church. Here is Barbie on the scaffold with Big Jim and Junior. What is going to happen to these people?" King then added, "It's a really collaborative effort and you have to be willing to give up some of your ideas for the other ideas and try to get something everyone is happy with." "People underestimate the power of nature and overestimate the organization and infrastructure of the world. Those things fascinate me. We live in a fragile society and the infrastructure that holds a lot of it up is very fragile," King added. "That is an under-the-dome situation, and you are thrown on your own resources and may have to be 18 or 19 hours inside the cab of a semi-truck. I like to see how people react when they are put into a situation - not necessarily a survival situation - but where you don't have the resources of the government and the outside world."
