The Google Nexus 8 is the next in line device for the successful Nexus tablet series. And while the release date of the all-new Nexus powerhouse is yet to be revealed, it has already been confirmed that instead of ASUS, Taiwan tech brand HTC will be the one to manufacture the new breed of Nexus tablets.
In the second quarter, HTC has already expressed on holding a special event on Aug. 19. Though further details on what the company will be presenting in the said event have been kept under wraps, techie analysts and reviewers are speculating that this will be the date HTC will officially launch the much anticipated Google Nexus 8, which is currently in the works under the codename "Volantis," as per a CNET report.
Another thing that has caused many Nexus fans to get all excited is the sudden descent in the stocks of the Nexus 7 2 lately. Retailers have already confirmed that the stocks for Nexus' 8's predecessor have been greatly diminished, but they remained tight-lipped on whether this is to give way to the next generation Google tablet that will take the Android tablet market by a storm.
"Sorry for the inconvenience. Nexus 7 will be back in stock in the Play store in the next few days, and is still available from a host of online and high street retailers," a retail store spokesperson was quoted saying by a number of tech sites last week.
Because of the sudden shortage, analysts are now adamant that the scarcity in the supply of the Nexus 7 2 is a clear sign that the Nexus 8's release date is just around the corner.
For those who are not yet in the know on what the Google Nexus 8 will be like, Trusted Reviews has already released its take on the features and specs that consumers can expect from this new Google tablet.
The HTC manufactured Google Nexus 8 is said to feature an 8.9-inch HD screen that packs 221 pixels per inch or a screen resolution of 2048 x 1440.
The Nexus 8 will sport a NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor and 2GB of RAM and will come with 2 variants: 16GB and 32GB units. The 16GB model is expected to be valued at $399 while the 32GB model will be priced at $499.
As per usual, the all-new Google tablet will come with the latest Android OS out of the box. However, instead of having the Android L, the Nexus 8 will run on Android 4.4 KitKat simply because the soon-to-be launched OS update is set to arrive later in October, Tech Radar has learned.
Finally, one thing that Nexus fans should watch out for is the rumored zero gap aluminum construction that the Google Nexus 8 will be flaunting. The said construction technology, which is also the same one used in the HTC One M8, will secure the tablet's thinness at 7.9mm, giving it a more solid and compact over-all design.
