Manny Pacquiao will be a heavy favorite in his upcoming fight against Chris Algieri on Nov. 22 at the Venetian Casino and Resort in Macau, China.
And for trainer Freddie Roach, Pacquiao is too much for his challenger, saying that former pound-for-pound king will dominate and score a knockout win against Algieri in their upcoming showdown.
"We'll knock him out somewhere along the way," Roach said when asked to give a prediction for Pacquiao's next fight in an interview with Tha Boxing Voice.
The Hall of Fame trainer said that he doesn't even know why Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum decided to pit Pacquiao against Algieri even if the 30-year-old holds a perfect 20-0 record.
"You have to ask Bob (Bob Arum) I have no idea why he picked that guy. He told me that he beat Ruslan, and he's a good fight for Manny and that was it," Roach said on picking Algieri as Pacquiao's next opponent.
Roach said that Algieri might have defeated him and Ruslan Provodnikov in June, but he insisted that Pacquiao is way superior to the unbeaten American. In terms of skill level, the 54-year-old trainer said that the difference is like night and day in favor of the Filipino boxing icon.
Pacquiao, who is coming off a unanimous decision win against Timothy Bradley on April 12 in Las Vegas, will undergo a five-week training in the Philippines before spending the final week of his camp in Macau.
In his previous fight in Macau, Pacquiao scored a dominating win against Brandon Rios, and Roach is hoping that the 35-year-old will be as dominating in his next fight.
"Well I hope so because he kicked the shit out of Rios," Roach said when asked if he expects Pacquiao to be aggressive on Nov. 22. "The problem with Rios is, he is a punching bag. It was a great win and we'll see. Manny is coming down to a catch weight of 144 and he might be a little bit of a better punch at the lighter weight."
