Los Angeles Lakers Superstar Kobe Bryant Says Cleveland Cavaliers Making Mistake in Trading Andrew Wiggins

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant believes that the Cleveland Cavaliers will regret their decision to trade Andrew Wiggins, the 2014 first overall pick.

In a recent interview, Bryant said that the Cavaliers are making the same mistake the Charlotte Hornets made during the 1996 NBA Draft when he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers for Vlade Divac.

Bryant, who was the 13th overall pick in 1996, turned out to be one of the greatest players in league history, while Divac's stint in Charlotte lasted for only two seasons.

"Cleveland is making the same mistake that Charlotte made with me," Bryant said via Vavel.

Recent reports indicated that the Cavaliers are set to trade Wiggins along with 2013 first overall pick Anthony Bennett and a 2015 first-round pick to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Love.

Sources said that the Cavaliers and the Timberwolves already have a deal in place, but both teams cannot announce anything until Aug. 23 when Wiggins becomes eligible to be traded, 30 days after signing his rookie contract.

Acquiring Love will make the Cavaliers strong favorite to win the title next season, but their decision to trade Wiggins could hurt them in the long run, especially if the former Kansas standout lives up to his potential.

Bryant's comment is contrary to Chicago Bulls superstar Derrick Rose's take on the reported deal. Rose, whose team is expected to be the Cavaliers main rival in the East next season, believes that the Cavaliers made a great move in acquiring Love.

"That's a great move. He's very, very skilled to be a big," Rose said of Love, who averaged 26.1 points and 12.5 rebounds per game with the Timberwolves last season.

James also said that Wiggins has the potential to become a superstar in the league, but he felt that the Cavaliers need Love more in order to contend for a title next season.

"If he comes aboard, I will be very excited to have him," James said via ESPN. "I don't even really care about the 26 [points] and 12 [rebounds], I care about his basketball IQ. His basketball IQ is very, very high. I had the opportunity to spend 32 days with him in the 2012 Olympics. He was huge for us, he's a great piece"
