The peanut butter recall list of brands and grocery stores circulating possibly salmonella-contaminated peanut butter products has been revealed already and the Food and Drug Administration is reminding everyone to avoid purchasing any products from the brands and stores that made it to the recall list.
According to International Business Times, retail stores Whole Foods, Trader's Joe, Safeway and other major outlets are part of the peanut butter recall list.
On the other hand, Subsidiary of the Hain Celestial Group, nSpired Natural Foods Inc. was the first to voluntarily recall peanut butter and almond products following the FDA's peanut butter recall list was announced.
The FDA reportedly tested several products and found out that a number of peanut butter products have high risk for salmonella contamination.
Brands that made it to the peanut butter recall list include Arrowhead Mills and MaraNatha. Private labels such as Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Kroger and Safeway are also affected by the recall.
The potentially contaminated peanut butter products have reportedly been distributed across the United States and several other countries including: Canada, Hong Kong, Dominican Republic, and United Arab Emirates, among others, according to THV11.
Health authorities are asking retail outlets and consumers to dispose the containers of peanut butter that has a strong risk for contamination to avoid salmonella poisoning.
Ingesting any of the products found in FDA's peanut butter recall list are said to cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain.
As of late, four illnesses have been identified to be associated to the contaminated nut butter products.
In the past, salmonella contamination was often associated to eggs and poultry. It was only in 2012, when peanut butter products began to become potentially unsafe for consumption due to salmonella contamination.
