George Strait's wife has always shown a strong supporting force to the "King of Country," who has established a solid career in the country music industry spanning a couple of decades already. The 62-year-old "I Got A Car" hit maker even considers his better half as his number one supporter in "good times and bad." so who is George Strait's wife really?
According to his biography and a couple of other sources, everyone could consider George Strait's wife, Norma, as one lucky lady. For one thing, she isn't only the last lady the iconic singer pursued in his dating life, but she also the first and the one and only woman in his life.
"Norma was the first girl I ever loved. We knew each other forever, growing up in a small town," George said of his wife in a 2011 interview with CBS Local's The Bull.
"I never really even thought anything about her, but then one day I asked her out and we went on a date. We didn't see each other for a long time after that. Then one day, I thought, 'I'm missing the boat here,' and we started dating again."
George Strait's wife and the "Pure Country" star tied the knot while the latter was still 19, and while many thought that their marriage was bound to end soon because they were too young at the time, the wonderful couple proved to everyone that they're wrong. Since they exchanged their wedding vows in 1971, they have managed to keep their marriage unwavering and colorful.
Around the same time they married, George was enlisted for the U.S. Army and was stationed in Hawaii at Schofield Barracks. Though it could have been a very difficult time for the two, things changed when George joined the Army-sponsored band "Rambling Country." Shortly after, the couple welcomed their first child named Jennifer, who unfortunately died in 1986 at the age of 13 after getting involved in a tragic car accident.
In 1981, George Strait's wife gave birth to their second child, George Strait Jr., who has since shown interest in the music industry as much as his father.
In 2012, George gushed about how happy he is that all this time his wife, Norma, has been on his side and has shared this wonderful journey with him.
"We love each other and we still like each other," he told People at the time. "We're so blessed that we were able to experience this life together, to support each other through everything, good times and bad."
After selling more than 65 million albums and producing over 50 chart-topping hits throughout his career, George Strait decided to wrap up everything through his final tour "The Cowboy Rides Away" in 2013.
Just this Friday, his final tour was aired as an exclusive two-hour special on CMT, according to Music Times.
George Strait is well-known for his massively successful songs including "Fool Hearted Memory," "Check Yes or No," "I Can Still Make Cheyenne," and "The Cowboy Rides Away," among others.
