A young girl at a Washington charter school was disappointed to see US President Barack Obama as his group made a surprise stop at the school on September 11 afternoon. The young girl was hoping to see singer Beyoncé.
US President Barack Obama together with First Lady Micelle Obama made a surprise stop at the Inspired Teaching public charter school in Washington, D.C. on Thursday to participate in a service project but disappointed a young girl named Madison, who had hoped the surprise visitor would be Beyoncé.
The public service was part of the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance. However, the sixth grader Madison never expected the president's visit but predicted another famous person would be stopping by their school for a surprise social call.
Madison told President Obama who was standing next to her in the assembly-line style operation that she was informed an important guest was going to join the activity and that she thought it would be Beyoncé. But then the young girl realized that it was the president of the United States.
Everyone who heard the young girl laughed and President Obama responded that even her two daughters Malia and Sasha would feel the same way too. Even the first lady Michelle Obama interjected that it was a disappointed and joked her husband that she too would rather see Beyoncé.
While continuing to fill the backpacks with books and toys, Madison then quickly made up for her previous statement telling President Obama that she realized it was going to be him and it would be even better. However, the US president didn't buy the young girl's statement and told her that he appreciated her saying it in front of the press but he knows it not really true.
The funny exchange between the young girl and US President Barack Obama took place during the September 11 service event. In 2011, Beyoncé stopped by a Harlem school as part of the first lady's "Let's Move" campaign.
Nowadays, kids are really becoming so straightforward. It is no surprise that Madison would appreciate to see Beyoncé instead of the US president. But the surprise visit definitely made the young girl's day.
