San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen took a swipe at Richard Sherman after their 30-21 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday in San Diego.
Allen, who tallied five receptions for 55 yards against the Seahawks, said that Sherman is not a "shutdown" corner like most experts are saying, reiterating that the Pro Bowl player is just "a normal guy."
"He's just a normal guy," Allen said of Sherman via ESPN. "We can go at him. We took some shots at him. We are not going to shy away from him. He's not really a shutdown corner. We definitely wanted to come out and show we could go any way we wanted to and that we were in control of the game."
Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers also completed 6-for-6 passes to receivers who were going up against Sherman with sources saying that San Diego officials believe that the Seahawks cornerback was exposed on Sunday.
Reacting to claims that he was exposed during the game against San Diego, Sherman took to Twitter and posted: "Lmao Exposed? .... Complete 3 passes 0 touchdowns 0 explosive passes.... These guys make me laugh."
Meanwhile, the Washington Redskins will have to make major adjustments as Robert Griffin III is expected to be sidelined indefinitely, possibly for the rest of the season.
Griffin dislocated his left ankle in the first quarter of their 41-10 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. The star quarterback will likely miss the remainder of the season if the MRI reveals damage that would require surgery.
"I'm just trying to stay in a good place," Griffin said. "Our spirits are high -- we're always thinking positive. We'll see what happens tomorrow and whatever information comes out, we'll know what the timetable is from there."
Redskins coach Jay Gruden also expressed optimism that Griffin will manage to bounce back from the latest setback, while also adding that their team will look for ways to win without their starting quarterback.
"I know he's sick about it, and I'm sick about it for him," Gruden said. "But he will get well, and he will get well as soon as he can. We're sick about it, but now we have to move forward."
