A Singaporean court has ruled out suspicions of foul play in the death of American First Meta Pte Ltd CEO Autumn Radtke, after disclosing that the 28 year-old, who is believed to have been struggling with both professional and personal issues, committed suicide in February.
The State Coroner noted that the executive of the Bitcoin exchange company was bent on taking her life. According to investigative reports, she had been researching on ways of committing suicide some days prior to her death. Earlier in the year, her neighbors told the press that she may have jumped from an apartment near her home. Singaporean state media have corroborated these claims, adding that she died due to the injuries sustained from her fall. They have also disclosed that traces of cocaine were found on her body, however it is unclear if drugs played a role in her death.
The death of Ms. Radtke comes on the heels of several upheavals in the Bitcoin industry including the collapse of a Tokyo-based Bitcoin exchange company Mt Gox in March.
It is unclear what particular issues pushed Ms. Radtke to take her life, but reports indicate that her company has been struggling with financial problems.
Ms. Radtke had allegedly expressed suicidal thoughts to her relatives and close Friends when relaying her frustrations over the performance of First Meta, which she was reportedly convincing its board to sell. One of her business associates told Reuters in March that First Meta "just isn't taking off in the way anybody had hoped." But executives from First Meta have refuted these claims, noting that there have been no problems with First Meta's performance and that there are no intentions to sell the company.
Ms. Radtke, who moved to Singapore from Wisconsin in 2008, has had working stints with several top companies, including Apple, Verizon, Universal, T-Mobile and Clear Channel.
