The FBI has arrived in Charlottesville to assist local police seek out an 18-years old student of the University of Virginia, who went missing over the weekend.
The story of the strange disappearance of Hannah Elizabeth Graham has captured headlines all over the country as details continues to trickle in about the incident.
Reports indicate that Ms. Graham was last seen in an Irish pub at about midnight on Friday/Saturday. Charlottesville Police have also disclosed that the last contact she had with her friends was a text message at about 1:20am in which she complained of facing difficulties finding her way to the location of a party she was set to attend.
The police have revealed that the search areas are being expanded as they have failed to come up with any traces of her after more than three days of looking. Local residents have meanwhile been directed to scrutinize their properties for any clues that could further the investigation. Officials have revealed that this is the fourth case about a missing young woman in the area in just five years.
Authorities say the second-year student, who is a British citizen, had taken a few drinks on the fateful night that she went missing. Despite her message complaining of difficulties finding her way, reports indicate that Ms. Graham was well familiar with the college campus vicinity where her apartment is located.
Ms. Graham's family have released a statement saying they are "heartbroken and at the same time heartened by the outpouring of support and help" they have received. The statement goes on to express hope that she will be found soon. This same optimism has been reflected by the cops who have called their hunt a 'search and rescue' mission.
Meanwhile, the President of the University of Virginia, Teresa A. Sullivan, has released a statement expressing 'deep concern' for Ms. Graham. She revealed that the university's police force have also become involved in the case and urged anyone with pertinent information not to hesitate in contacting the police.
