Rio Ferdinand enjoyed fruitful seasons with Manchester United and he wants to give back to their fans in the future by becoming the manager of the Red Devils.
Ferdinand, who spent 12 seasons at Old Trafford before moving to Queens Park Rangers last summer, said that he is taking all coaching badges and he wants to lead Manchester United to glory years in the future.
"I am not going to look that far ahead. I am taking all my coaching badges and everything I need to do and then we shall see what opportunities arise," Ferdinand said via ESPN FC.
Ferdinand said, though, that he is managing his expectation because he knows that taking the job will be easier said than done because big clubs like Manchester United usually pick a leader who has already been successful with other clubs.
"I am not stupid enough to think that I will pass all my badges and then Manchester United will come asking me to become their manager," Ferdinand said. "But I want to be the best in whatever field I go into and that means managing a big club like United or your country."
Manchester United are still struggling to find an identity under first-year manager Louis Van Gaal, winning just three games in seven league matches, but Ferdinand is confident that the Red Devils will eventually be in the running for the Barclays Premier League crown again.
"United are meant to be struggling and having a terrible season yet they are fourth in the league. If they hit a bit of form and consistency then they are going to be up there," Ferdinand said.
Meanwhile, Radamel Falcao expressed desire to continue playing for the Red Devils, saying that he has already learned to love Manchester United and its fans in his first several weeks with the club.
Falcao, who moved to Old Trafford via a one-year loan agreement with AS Monaco, is hoping that he will be in a Manchester United uniform again in seasons to come.
"In terms of my thoughts and plans for the future, I want to stay at Manchester United for the coming years," Falcao said. "I'm still going to need some time to be OK, but I am feeling very comfortable and very good on the pitch, in harmony with myself, with the ball and with football."
