Robert Griffin III will reportedly make his return for the Washington Redskins when they collide with the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday at TCF Bank Stadium.
ESPN, citing multiple sources, confirmed that Griffin will make his comeback against the Vikings after sitting out since sustaining a dislocated left ankle in their second game of the season.
According to reports, Griffin practiced fully with the first team on Wednesday as part of the preparation for his comeback for the Redskins, who hold a 3-5 record this season.
In two games this season, the 24-year-old Griffin completed 31-of-40 passes for 305 yards with no touchdown and interception.
Meanwhile, the New York Jets will also have a new starting quarterback on Sunday when they go up against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
Jets coach Rex Ryan announced that Michael Vick will start in their upcoming game against the Chiefs, replacing Geno Smith, who failed to lead the team to victory in their last seven games.
Vick, who moved to the Jets during the offseason after losing his starting spot to Nick Foles with the Philadelphia Eagles last season, said that he will take advantage of the opportunity to start again.
"I think it's a great opportunity," Vick said. "Any time you get named to be the starter, it's a great thing. I think you have to relish it, but also take it extremely serious, and understand what's at stake and what needs to be done."
It is unclear at this point whether or not the change will just be on a temporary basis, but Ryan pointed out that they just felt it is the best time to make a move, pointing out that they are still optimistic that Smith will bounce back when he gets an opportunity to start again.
"Of course you hope a young quarterback could be that guy," Ryan said. "He had a poor game, that's no doubt. Have there been guys that have taken a step back and taken a leap forward? There have been guys like that. Hopefully, that's what happens to Geno. I don't think anybody in this organization is looking at him differently now."
