The Cleveland Cavaliers are still interested in signing Ray Allen this season, but the veteran shooting guard is still undecided on his future.
Allen said in an interview with Dom Amore of Sun Sentinel that he is still unsure of whether or not to continue playing this season, but he revealed that he is still keeping himself in shape.
The 39-year-old shooting guard, who averaged 9.6 points to go along with 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game with the Miami Heat last season, said that he is still monitoring several teams before making his decision.
"I've just been home, taking my kids to school," Allen said. "I'm working out, taking care of my body. I'm in great shape. I'll just watch how the season progresses, and if I do feel the desire to continue to play, then I'll decide what situation is viable for me."
Allen also pointed out that he feels he can contribute to any team despite his age, reiterating that he just needs one week to familiarize with the team that will sign him this offseason.
"I still feel certain aches and pains; that's definitely old age," Allen said. "To be able to run, and back off a little bit, lift, and back off a little bit instead of going at it 100 percent all the time like I've been doing has helped."
Aside from the Cavaliers, several teams have also expressed interest in signing the NBA's all-time leader in three-pointers made, including the San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls and Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Dallas Mavericks are also expected to join the race later in the season. Team owner Mark Cuban said that they haven't talk to the 18-year veteran, but he quickly added that they would consider signing him later in the season depending on the circumstances.
"We haven't talked to him, but I think he's doing it the right way," Cuban said via The Dallas Morning News. "He's waiting to see who's doing well. If it comes down to it, we'd always consider it. We're always open to improving the team. But you don't want to mess up a good thing, either."
Rashard Lewis is also the Mavericks' radar as the veteran forward is also working out to keep himself for a possible return following a knee injury.
