NBA Trade Off: LA Lakers to Acquire New Players

LA Lakers has only four wins this year, which made the team consider trading Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer to acquire new players, Sports World reported.

The Lakers have several injured players that affected the team's performance. They received a disabled player waiver for $4.85 million as a compensation for the injured point guard Steve Nash.

The team can either acquire a freelance player worth $4.85 million or trade an old player with the same amount. In addition, they gained $1.5 million as waiver for injured newbie Julius Randle, Los Angeles Times reported.

General manager Mitch Kupchak talked about finding new team members in a press conference.

"We would have to find a better player than who is on our roster now since you have to cut somebody. I'm not sure those players exist as free agents. When we get something closer to the trade deadline, there might be something there," Kupchak said, according to Los Angeles Daily News.

Since the team has money to spend for new players, rumors surfaced that they are eyeing Kevin Love, Greg Monro, Marc Gasol and Earl Clark.

However, Kevin Love is under Cleveland Cavaliers and will most likely receive a good offer to stay in his current team.

Monroe and Gasol are set to be freelancers next summer. Other teams such as Celtics and Knicks are also after Gasol, thus Monroe will be a more attainable option.

Meanwhile, Clark is reportedly offered a one-year deal worth $1 million. The power forward previously played with the Lakers and he seemed to favor his old team as mentioned in his interview with The Monitor.

"I made 3s in L.A., proved myself as a stretch guy. I go to Cleveland and all they want me to do is shoot 3s. When I'm in Orlando, I'm told don't shoot the ball, just play defense. It's tough for me. I've gotten into this tweener thing because I've gone from coaches who really don't know how to use me," Clark said.

The NBA trade deadline is set on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 3 p.m. EST.
