Role-playing 3D video games "Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire" sold 3.04 million copies all over the world in a span of three days, Anime News Network reported.
The over three million sales is the total record for countries where the game was released first such as Japan, the U.S., Australia and New Zealand. Europe total sales have not been confirmed yet, however, pre-orders topped the 2013 "Pokémon X and Y."
In Japan, groups of players surrounded the Pokémon center in time for the Nov. 15 release. Sales reached up to 1.5 million copies in the country alone.
In the U.S, the game was released in Nov. 21 with a big celebration from the retailers. Several shops such as Best Buy, Gamestop and Toys R' Us offered special pre-order deals. Walmart also participated in the event and gave out toy characters when the game is purchased, I Digital Times reported.
Video Game Company Nintendo enjoyed huge sales in Australia and New Zealand as well. Players lined up at midnight of Nov. 21 to order the 3D game, according to Capsule Computers.
Although the games are new, Pokémon fans are familiar with the structure of the newly released version. The player must train the Pokémon to qualify in battles with mini-bosses in an area branded as the gym.
There are eight gyms to be defeated and eight badges to acquire. When a Pokémon wins, the character must face the master trainers, which are the Elite Four.
The highlight though is the change in the evolution of the characters. Special stones are in the game to aid the Pokémon in transforming to their prehistoric from. The player's goal is to transform the character into the best version, according to Kotaku.
As of recent, "Pokémon Omega Ruby" and "Pokémon Alpha Sapphire" are available in the U.S. game sites and stores for $39.99.
