Psy's "Gangnam Style" music video exceeded the view limit of YouTube, which made the site increase the maximum value, BBC reported.
YouTube can only accommodate a total of 2,147,483,647, however the "Gangnam Style" video gained more than that. As a result, the video-sharing website maximized its viewing capability up to 9,223,372,036,854,775,808, or more than nine quintillion.
The site released a statement regarding the news saying: "We never thought a video would be watched in numbers greater than a 32-bit integer (=2,147,483,647 views), but that was before we met PSY. "Gangnam Style" has been viewed so many times we had to upgrade to a 64-bit integer (9,223,372,036,854,775,808)!"
YouTube owner, Google has declared that the company was expecting it to happen. "We saw this coming a couple months ago and updated our systems to prepare for it, so we updated to a 64-bit counter (9,223,372,036,854,775,808 max - that's 9 quintillion)," said YouTube proprietor, according to The Verge.
Google spokesperson Matt Mc Lernon further confirmed that the site was not busted. "Nothing actually broke. There was never anything that actually went wrong. It's just people having fun with the language," Lernon said, according to CNN.
Psy's video is now more than two years old after it was published on July 2012. The hit Korean pop song is now the most watched video on YouTube and the fifth most played clip last summer.
"Gentleman", which is another hit song by Psy is on the eight spot of the "10 Most Watched YouTube Clips of All Time" with a total of 762 million views. Another version of "Gangnam Style", which is a duet with Korean singer Hyunna is on the 25th spot with 526 million views.
Meanwhile, the Korean pop star is reportedly working on a new album for 2015, according to Media Mass.
