"Star Wars" revealed cast members using trading cards, Entertainment Weekly reported.
Director J. J. Abrams and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy decided to reveal the cast members through Topps trading cards.
"Collect 'Em, Trade 'Em" says Topps, is a company that produces trading cards for sports and comic book characters. The company has featured the 1977 "Star Wars" film in their products before.
This time, three red and five blue trading cards were produced for the giant film franchise. Ball-like droid BB-8 is featured in a blue card with the caption "BB-8 on the move!" The running man in the trailer wearing storm trooper suit is named Finn and is featured in a red card.
As for the villain, a blue card revealed his name with the caption "Kylo Ren ignites his Lightsaber!" The woman riding a speeder in the teaser is Rey with her own red card.
Pilot Poe Dameron in his X-Wing is featured in a blue card. Finally, the massive ship Millenium Falcon has its own red card, Sploid reported.
The characters featured in the cards can be seen in the "Star Wars" teaser. "Star Wars: Episode VII-The Force Awakens" takes place after the "Return of the Jedi", which ended with the death of Darth Vader.
The short clip opens with Finn played by John Boyega running in the desert Tatooine. This is the same desert where Luke Skywalker grew up. Speculations arose that Boyega will be the new hero of the sequel.
The droid BB-8 rolls around the same desert before the clip quickly cuts to a scene with the storm troopers gathered in a ship. Next scene is Rey played by Daisy Ridley riding a speeder with a concerned look on her face. Fans guessed that Finn and Rey are the film's new couple that will face impossible situations.
After that, Poe Dameron played by Oscar Isaac shows up in his X Wing. His character is reportedly a good one due to the Rebel Insignia symbol on his helmet that good guys have in the original film.
As the clip darkens, Kylo Ren comes in wearing a hooded cloak. He uses a red light saber, which means that he is a villain. The actor behind Kylo Ren is still unknown.
Finally, the Millenium Falcon arrives and fans presume that the ship is trying to escape from a battle in Tatooine, according to The Business Insider.
"Star Wars: Episode VII-The Force Awakens" will be released on Dec. 18, 2015 in the US.
