San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks will square it off for the second and perhaps last time this season, with Pete Carroll's guys looking to knockout their division rival on their home turf on Sunday at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Washington.
After going through some shaky stretch, the Seahawks have regained their championship form as they racked up consecutive victories against elite competitions (Arizona Cardinals, 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles) the past three weeks and won six of their last seven games.
The Seahawks have already victimized the 49ers in their first meeting last November 27, but their 19-3 blowout win over their rivals won't matter at all if they cannot dispatch them for good this time around.
On the other hand, the 49ers will attempt to get even with the Seahawks and perhaps make a late playoff push with three games left in their schedule.
Jim Harbaugh, whose future with the 49ers has become uncertain following reports that he might end up accepting the coaching job offered by his Alma Mater University of Michigan, assured that his main goal for now is to win games for his team.
"My priorities are No. 1, winning football games, No. 2, with the welfare of our players, coaches and our staff, and lastly is what my personal and professional future is," Harbaugh told the press via ESPN. "My priorities are winning games."
49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick hasn't done much against the Seahawks in his career. Aside from losing four of the five head-to-head matches against them, Kaepernick only managed three TD scores, nine interceptions and a 50.6 passing rating against them. Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman believed Kaepernick's lackluster performances might be a result of the Seahawks defense's familiarity of his tendencies while running the 49ers plays.
"To a degree, but it's like you know all the teams in your division's tendencies better," Sherman said prior to their Sunday rivalry match. "I'm sure they know Russell's tendencies a little better than every other quarterback just from playing him so much. This will be the third time we've played them in 2014. You see a team so much you have to get something, unless you're just not paying attention."
49ers vs. Seahawks match will begin at 4:25 p.m US Eastern Time live on Fox Sports Go & Sports Stream. Stats, Play-by-Play and Full NFL Scores are available on NFL Red Zone.
