"The Vampire Diaries" had their mid season finale last week and fans are excited to know what will happen next year, International Business Times reported.
The "The Vampire Diaries" mid season finale ended with a cliffhanger when Christopher Wood's character, Malachai "Kai" Parker interrupted the long awaited kiss of Elena Gilbert played by Nina Dobrev and Damon Salvatore portrayed by Ian Somerhalder, Wet Paint reported.
"Delena" fans were distraught as Kai cloaked and knocked down Elena before the mistletoe kiss. Followers of the vampire series are dying to know what is in store for the coming year. The show's writer and producer Caroline Dries revealed some spoilers for the curious fans.
The producer discussed Kai's character as a villain and his magical abilities, which surprised most of the viewers.
"His one vulnerability was that he didn't have his own access to magic. Now he's got it coming out of his ears!" she said, according to E!
Dries talked about the timeframe for the villain's powers and what to expect from him when the "Vampire Diaries" returns.
"There is a timer. He charges up like a battery and then it runs out like a really cheap, junky battery. It's not a permanent solution for him but the consequences of that will certainly be in effect in episode 11 when we come back from our break," Dries revealed.
The writer also addressed the distressed "Delena" fans who were disappointed when the awaited kiss was interrupted in the mid season finale. The interviewer expressed her frustration about the supposedly romantic scene.
"Good! We wanted to end it with a cliffhanger and while we're all ready for Delena to be back and work things out, we also wanted to give the episode a big twist. That's how that came about. I know it was probably maddening for a lot of people since the mistletoe was highly promo-ed," the producer replied.
Dries hinted that "Delena" fans will be getting a treat from the show.
"I can tease that we will finally see them come face-to-face soon and we'll continue to watch their relationship evolve. Their separation won't last forever. You just have to have patience," she said.
"The Vampire Diaries" will return on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 8 p.m. on the CW.
