Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt are allegedly the new stars for "Ghostbusters 3" according to the infamous Sony hack, Hollywood Life reported.
The Sony hack email revealed that Channing Tatum has pitched in to producers for a "Ghostbusters" spin off with him and Chris Pratt. The email was sent to executive Amy Pascal from Tatum, who somewhat begged for a franchise.
The email was received on August 21 and Tatum allegedly wrote: "Let us show the world The DarkSide and let us fight it with all the glory and epicness of a HUGE BATMAN BEGINS MOVIE. I know we can make this a huge franchise. Fun adventure craziness. COME OONNNN!!!" The Daily Beast reported.
The next day, Columbia pictures co-president Hannah Minghella emailed Pascal as well. Minghella supported Tatum's plan of a spin off to be produced by the Russo brothers. She wrote:
"So... in a curious turn of events - the Russos and Channing want to develop Ghostbusters as a vehicle for Channing and Chris Pratt to do together. The Russos, Channing and Reid have been brainstorming ideas and want to create a whole new mythology that would support multiple movies (the way that Nolan reinvented Batman). To be clear - the Russos want to produce (not direct) and while Channing and Chris are looking for a movie to do together they haven't mentioned this to him yet because they weren't sure how we'd react."
Minghella further explained the kind of "Ghostbusters" theme Tatum and the group want to achieve. The co-president wrote:
"They want to make it simultaneously super scary while also super funny. They love the idea that they are mortal heroes who are believers in the paranormal and the only people who can defend mankind from a paranormal threat. "
Pascal has expressed her enthusiasm over the project and replied: "f*ckkk."
A "Ghostbusters" franchise with Tatum and Pratt is surely a treat but rumors also surfaced that Ryan Gosling has been tapped as the only male character for the reboot. The movie will feature an all female team, which reportedly includes Rebel Wilson and Jennifer Lawrence, according to Dread Central.
"Ghostbusters 3" is currently finalizing the cast and is planning to release the film in 2016.
