Norman Reedus who portrays the beloved role in "The Walking Dead" has clearly made an impact to the show's followers. As a reply to the MTV title he was given, Reedus shared an Instagram photo with the MTV video link and added "Thank You."
Since "The Walking Dead" is known for the shocking deaths of its characters, fans made sure that their favorite hero is safe by creating "If Daryl dies, we riot" Facebook page, memes and even a string of YouTube videos.
Fans have consistently supported him since the show started and a list of why he is adored by many has been compiled by Celebrity Laundry.
Daryl has been portrayed as a loner who can definitely survive on his own. This makes the character mysterious since humans are naturally drawn to other people.
Female followers are also attracted to his bad boy image but with a sweet side. In the second season of "The Walking Dead," Daryl was the most persistent in the search for Carol's daughter Sophia. This showed the softer side of him that fans clearly adored.
Daryl's crossbow is also a plus point. All of the characters were using guns to kill the "walkers" but he was the unique one. The crossbow is already an iconic part of the show.
As "The Walking Dead" takes a mid-season break, fans of Daryl Dixon are curious about what happens to the character. Reedus has something to say about his role when season 5 returns, according to Christian Today.
"We used to move in a direction away from fear. Now we're moving toward things, and hitting things head-on," Reedus said.
AMC's "The Walking Dead" season 5 returns on Feb. 8, 2015.
