Liam Payne is allegedly getting engaged to his girlfriend Sophia Smith. The One Direction member was spotted shopping at the jewellery store, Tiffany's. Fans went crazy when Payne was seen heading out with the signature store handbag from the shop in New York.
The engagement rumors were further fuelled when Payne tweeted the lyrics of the song "Rude", which tackled about asking for a girl's hand from her father. The singer posted on Twitter and wrote: "Saturday morning jumped out of bed."
After the tweet, fans freaked out and replied to Payne's post. Pictures of the couple in New York emerged in the social networking site. One Direction fans tend to be possessive with the band members so the reaction was not unusual.
Smith has received a lot of backlash when the pair first admitted that they were together. As time goes by, Payne's followers became more accepting of their relationship. The fans branded the two as "Sophiam."
The fans even speculated that Payne would propose on Christmas day since his girlfriend will celebrate it with the family. In One Direction's recent interview with Jimmy Fallon, the singer revealed that he is cooking dinner for his family on Christmas while Smith is in-charge with the desserts, according to Mirror.
"I think we're all just going to spend some time with our family. I'm cooking this year as well. I'm not really into the puddings, I'll let the Mrs deal with the pudding. I'll deal with the main shebang," Payne said.
Other than that, a source told the Sunday Mirror about Payne's serious commitment to Smith, Daily Mail reported.
"Liam has really fallen for her. It's getting very serious, very fast. She's a sweet, normal girl who likes Liam for who he is, not because he's in the most famous boy band in the world," the source said.
Meanwhile, fans all over the world can catch Payne and the rest of the One Direction boys in their world tour starting January 2015.
