NBA Rumors: Carmelo Anthony Frustrated With Phil Jackson’s Lack of Urgency To Improve Roster

New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony is reportedly frustrated by the lack of initiative of the team's front-office, headed by president of basketball operations Phil Jackson, to improve the roster at this point of the season.

Anthony, who signed five-year, $124 million contract with the Knickerbockers last summer, is now complaining about the slow progress of the team after adapting the triangle offense under the tutelage of new head coach Derek Fisher.

"We have spurts throughout the course of the game where we are showing something, showing that we're getting it and we're focused and we have the energy to go out and do it," Anthony said in an interview with ESPN New York writer Ian Begley.

"But there are times where we show that we're not even out there on the basketball court. We gotta start trying to put a whole game together."

One of the reasons behind Anthony's decision to stay with the Knicks despite an offer from Eastern Conference contender like the Chicago Bulls is Jackson's promise of rebuilding the franchise into a title contender within the next two years.

However, the former scoring champion hasn't been satisfied with the moves made by the Zen Master so far, and he admits both the team and its fanbase are suffering right now.

"The fans are dying, we're dying. We're out there, we're not producing. We didn't expect, I didn't expect to be sitting at 5-26," he said. "So as much as I feel for the fans, I feel for us going through it, too. I don't expect nobody to feel sorry for us, I don't expect nobody to feel sorry for me.

Since trading Tyson Chandler & Raymond Felton to the Dallas Mavericks for Samuel Dalembert, Jose Calderon and Shane Larkin, the Knicks haven't made any movement to improve the roster so far. Unfortunately, the Knicks are still capped out until next offseason, when they can get rid of the big contracts of Amar'e Stoudemire and Andrea Bargnani.
