After already clinching a playoff spot for the first time since 2009, The Dallas Cowboys will attempt to make one last push towards securing a first-round bye on Sunday, as they take on the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field.
What's at Stake:
At 11-4, the 'Boys are already guaranteed to play for their first playoff game since 2009. However, considering how tight the competitions are atop the NFC standings, Tony Romo and company suddenly have an outside chance in getting a first-round bye.
Although a win against the pesky Redskins won't instantly give them the nod, a loss by the Detroit Lions and the Seattle Seahawks could open just a little lane for them to squeak into the top-2 spots of the NFC.
On the other hand, the 'Skins will try to crash the Cowboys' party by stumping on their morale before their big playoff. Washington is coming off a 27-24 win over the Philadelphia Eagles that gave the playoff berth on the silver platter to the Cowboys on Week 16.
Quotes to Ponder:
"Our plan is to practice as well as we can practice and go play our best football game with the guys who are available to us," Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett told the New York Times of their intention to win the ballgame against the Redskins.
"We're excited about that opportunity. That's what we do here. We focus on each day. We focus on being our best, and that's what we're going to do this week getting ready for the Redskins."
