‘Miss Universe’ 2014: Who Will Be The Next ‘Miss Universe’ Successor?

"Miss Universe" 2014 - The "Miss Universe" pageant usually takes place every December but last year, some changes have been made and the 63rd edition of the prestigious beauty contest will be held on Jan. 25, 2015 at the City of Doral in Miami, Florida.

On Dec. 16, 2014, the pageant's organizers announced that NBC's "TODAY" host Natalie Morales and MSNBC's "Way Too Early" anchor Thomas Roberts will take the stage together for the first time as co-hosts of the "Miss Universe" 2014 competition.

The "Miss Universe" pageant is a partnership between NBC Universal and Donald J. Trump, the American tycoon who also owns the "Miss USA" and "Miss Teen USA" pageants. The competition will be aired live from the FIU Arena and IMG's Steve Mayer will be the executive producer.

The 2014 "Miss Universe" competition is a three-hour event that will also be televised in Spanish on Telemundo. Science Times reported the show will start at 7/6 p.m. CT with a special produced by the network, "Camino a la Corona." Raúl González and Rashel Diaz will carry out the live dubbing in Spanish.

Meanwhile, the pageant's judges and the featured set of performers have not yet announced. However, International Business Times reported that eight-division boxing world champion Manny Pacquaio is set to serve as a judge of the stellar beauty contest. In an interview with The Telegraph, Pacquaio's promoter Bob Arum hinted that the Filipino boxing champ has been invited to be one of the judges.

"The only thing we're planning with Pacquiao in early 2015 is that he's going to be a judge at one of these beauty contests, Miss World or Miss Universe," Arum said. "The one in Miami, in January."

The 63rd Annual "Miss Universe" 2014 competition this January 2015 will showcase beauties from almost 90 countries from all over the world who will graciously vie for the crown to be the successor of the current reigning queen, Gabriela Isler of Venezuela. The contestants will be judged in three categories that include swimsuit, evening gown and the interview segment.

As the preparations for the 2014 "Miss Universe" pageant get in full swing, several have already been betting on the top picks for the crown, the Venture Capital Post reported. And among the add-ons of the competition is the selection of one of the sixteen semifinalists through online voting.

The list of the Top 20 contestants who are strong contenders (in no particular order) at the "Miss Universe" pageant are USA's Nia Sanchez, Noyonita Lodh of India, Philippines' Mary Jean Lastimosa and Desire Cordero of Spain.

Among the other candidates that belonged to the top picks the Times of India reported were from Jamaica, Brazil, Venezuela, Malaysia, Ukraine, Costa Rica, Guyana, Colombia, Russia, Hungary, Thailand, Poland, Mexico, Indonesia, South Africa and Ecuador.

"Miss Universe" 2014 coronation night airs on Jan. 25, 2015 Sunday on NBC and Telemundo at 8 p.m. ET.
