Parents Sons Police Fayetteville - A North Carolina father and mother called the police on their teenage sons after recognizing them in a CCTV footage of a burglary shown on the news.
Reports indicate that the boys whose identities have been withheld are aged 14 and 16-years-old.
The identities of their parents has also not been disclosed. They reportedly went to Watch Night Service and had the news recorded which they played after coming back home.
While watching the news, the parents recognized their teenage sons, who were supposed to be with an older sibling, stealing cell phones, laptops and other electronic at a local store.
According to local reports, Tech Boyz, a Fayetteville, North Carolina store surveillance cameras captured 5 African American teens robbing the store at around 3:30 a.m. last Monday, Dec. 29.
"To the [parents] who turned them in, thank you. I'm hating that it's your kids, but thank you for doing the right thing," said Jesse Hill, co-owner of Tech Boyz. "I'm just glad the parents decided to do the right thing" .
Hill said thousands of dollars worth of property were destroyed or missing. Adding that as a result of the robbery the store has to reimburse customers whose gadgets were being repaired in the store when the robbery occurred.
Reports indicate that the teens who donned tracksuits and hooded sweaters were captured by at least nine cameras placed strategically both outside and inside the store during the robbery.
After recognizing their sons, the parents took them to the Fayetteville police station. The teenager have since been charged with larceny, breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods.
Officials explained that the robbery was not their idea and that the boys who succumbed to peer pressure would be sent to the juvenile court.
Authorities have since arrested one other teenager in connection with robbery, while the two others are expected to be identified soon.
