Mark Mere: Angry Camel Stumps Man And Farm Owner To Death

Mark Mere - Police in Texas say two adults have been trampled to death by an aggressive male camel on a farm.

Reports indicate that the incident happened on Saturday around 2:30pm at the Camel Kisses Camel Farm off FM 367 close to Wellington, Ln.

Wichita County Sheriff David Duke said the bodies of 72-year-old farm owner Peggy McNair and 53-year-olf Mark Mere were found close to where a blood stained camel was standing.

"It appears that both victims were trampled by the camel," Duke said."A large aggressive camel was in the area as well, and it took deputies several minutes to move it to another location."

Authorities found a camel with blood on it's mouth and chest - with permission from the McNair family, Game wardens killed the large animal because it was acting aggressive.

Reports indicate that the camel was in rut (when ready for breeding) and shared a pen with two female camels. Male camels are usually aggressive while in rut, and became angered when Mark Mere entered the pen to change the water trough which was frozen.

As the angry camel attacked Mark Mere, he ran towards the gate - Mrs McNair tried to close the gate as the animal tried to get out. However, she was late and the camel trampled them to death.

The bodies of Mark Mere and Peggy McNair have been transported to Tarrant County where an autopsy would be conducted.

Peggy McNair, a former bank vice president, followed her husband's business of raising camels. She had been rearing the camels for close to 20 years. The Camel Kisses is quite a popular attraction for animal loves especially kids, who ride them.
