Steve Harvey - A series of birthday surprises for Steve Harvey, who turns 58 on Sat. Jan 17, left the famous comedian in tears on the set of his eponymous TV show this week.
Every year the producers of Steve Harvey on NBC arrange a surprise for Harvey as a way to mark his birthday. This year Harvey's wife Majorie was put in charge of his birthday show and inside sources say the comedian broke down in tears as he was inundated with too much birthday surprises.
Harvey, who has revealed that he has no idea about the surprises beforehand, has said his birthday show was "truly amazing."
According to FOX50, the one-hour-long Steve Harvey birthday surprise show kicks off with a reunion between Harvey and the couple who gave him his first headlining gig - Bruce Ayers and his wife Che Che, who own the Comedy Club Stardome in Birmingham, Alabama.
Bruce told AL.com that Steve broke down after seeing him and his wife on the night. Apparently Harvey had not seen the couple in more than a decade. Bruce and his wife say nonetheless Harvey has often credited them with helping kick start his career.
But the flurry of surprises did not end there. Harvey is reunited with two of his old acquaintances - Butch Meridith and Wendy Raquel Robinson - who reminisce about their time with the comedian. Harvey is also surprised by the mayor of Cleveland Frank Jackson, who names East 112 St., where Harvey grew up, as the Steve Harvey Way.
Harvey later told ET's Nischelle Turner that "I learned everything I know about survival on that block."
To crown it all, Harvey is met by his children and grandchild on the set of the show. But that is not all the surprises that were in store for him on the night.
