EA Games Prepares 'Star Wars: Battlefront' As Holiday Gift For Fans

EA Games is reportedly preparing "Star Wars: Battlefront" as a holiday present for gamers this year, according to Master Herald.

Back in October of 2014, EA Games CEO Andrew Wilson has announced that it will be released in time for Christmas next year, which is 2015. "Star Wars: Battlefront" was originally slated for a summer of 2015 release but they changed it.

The upcoming release is well-timed with the premiere of the film "Star Wars: Episode VII- The Force Awakens" on Dec. 18. This will give the game an advanced promotion and the movie is expected to help in increasing the sales of "Star Wars: Battlefront 3," according to Tech Times.

The said game is considered as the third installment for "Star Wars: Battlefront" but it is actually a different game from its predecessors. The first two games can be played in first-person and third-person mode and it is anchored in the film's battle scenes. Meanwhile, the upcoming game can only be played in first-person mode.

The first game entitled "Star Wars: Battlefront" was released in 2004 and the sequel "Star Wars: Battlefront II" was unveiled in 2005 and both were created by Pandemic. The upcoming game is branded by EA as "Star Wars: Battlefront (2015 video game)" to distinguish it from the other two.

Gamers are excited but a little disappointed with the delayed release. Some fans suggested that there should be a third-person mode since they believe it made the first two games a success.

In response, EA executive vice president Patrick Soderlund said that the 2015 game will have similarities with the other two but they made sure to put something unique to it. Soderlund emphasized that it is not a third installment but an altogether new game, Expert Reviews reported.

"Star Wars: Battlefront" has released a teaser last year that can give fans a glimpse of what is yet to come. Since its release in June 2014, the video clip has reached a total of over 4 million viewers.
