There wasn't anything particularly explicit or unacceptable in the Chevy Super Bowl commercial, but it was the fact that it played on every football fan's worst nightmare - that your cable connection would develop faults right before kickoff.
The Chevy Super Bowl commercial, which comes on a few seconds into the game, feigns a cable disruption as the screen starts to shake and the announcer's voice cracks as he says "and Super Bowl thirty nine just..." The screen then goes blank for a few seconds before Chevy asks "What would you do if your TV went out?" and then tells viewers that the all-new Chevy Colorado has built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi that will allow you to watch the game in your car.
Since the Chevy Super Bowl commercial was aired, many football fans have expressed various opinions about the ad on Twitter. While some praised its "genius," others chided that the scare was extreme and unnecessary.
