Missing Nursing Student: Body Of Missing Okla. Student Found Inside Her Overturned And Partially Submerged Car

Missing Nursing Student - The body of a 21-year-old Henderson State University student, who was reported missing on Thursday, has been found inside her partially submerged vehicle in southeastern Oklahoma on Sunday.

Callie Morris was reportedly traveling home from Arkansas to McAlester on Thursday when she was last heard from. According to reports, the last time she contacted a family member was on January 29 around 4:30 p.m. to say she was on her way home.

According to LeFlore County Sheriff's Office, Morris' SUV was found bowled over and partially submerged in water under a bridge in Buffalo Valley, Oklahoma. While the body, which was later confirmed to be her's, was found inside the truck with the seat belt still intact.

Authorities say it is possible Morris's SUV veered off the Highway 1 and crashed into a guardrail before falling into the water.

LeFlore County Sheriff Rob Seal said search and rescue crews found Morris' sell phone pinged in the Big Cedar area on Thursday around 6:30 p.m.

"It is really traumatic," Morris' father, Doyle Morris said. "She was very upbeat, very happy, wanted to come home and see her two baby nephews."

Glen Jones, the president of Henderson State University, took to social media to express the school's condolences to Morris' family and friends.

"Please join me in praying for the family of @Henderson student #Callie Morris who lost her life in a car accident on Thursday.#HSU," Glen Jones tweeted.

Several volunteers and officials formed search and rescue crews to look for Henderson. On Sunday was the third day of the search operations, which spanned the mountainous southeastern Oklahoma region.

Authorities have since ruled Callie Morris' crash and death as an accident and they seemingly don't smell foul play.
