Amanda Knox - The 27 years old Seattleite, who shot to international recognition in 2007 after being charged with the murder of her flatmate in Italy, has kept a low profile since she returned to the US in Oct. 2011 when her conviction was overturned. Now the Seattle Times has reported that she is engaged to rock musician and actor Colin Sutherland. Here are a few things you probably didn't know about their relationship.
1. Amanda Knox and Colin Sutherland, who are both of the same age - 27 -, have known each other since they were in their early teens in middle school. It is likely that they both attended Seattle Preparatory School, which is located on Capitol Hill. Knox gained admission into the University of Washington and decided to spend her junior year abroad with the University of Foreigner Perugia.
2. It is unclear how deep the acquaintance between Knox and Sutherland was during their school days and during her time in Italy, but reports indicate that he wrote her while she was in incarceration abroad. It is important to point out that Knox had been in a relationship with an Italian man named Rafaele Sollecito - the couple was pronounced guilty in the murder of Meredith Kercher, along with Ivory Coast national Rudy Guede. But in 2011, her conviction was overturned during an appeal hearing.
3. Sutherland reportedly moved back to Seattle recently from New York, where he had been pursuing a career in music, and possibly also acting. Meanwhile, Knox has been pursuing a career in journalism with the West Seattle Herald. Despite the couple's best attempts to keep a low profile, they've been spotted around town several times by paparazzis.
4. Since Knox and Sutherland got engaged last week, many questions have been asked about how her impending trial will affect her relationship. On Mar. 25, Knox is set to once again appeal to the Italian courts that she innocent. If the appeal is successful, she would be looking forward to planning her marriage, but if it is denied, Sutherland may start thinking about moving to Italy to be near Knox while she is serving her time.
