Afton Elaine Burton - A slender Illinois brunette, who moved to Corcoran, Calif. to be close to Charles Manson, has revealed that she and the convicted killer still have plans to get married, despite the fact their marriage license expired recently and rumors that she is only playing along with the marriage to get legal custody of Manson's body when he dies.
In an interview with Inside Edition - the first such interview she has given about the marriage - Burton, who goes by the name of 'Star,' said she is going to stand by Manson's side and that their marriage is going to happen.
Speaking about their first meeting, Burton said "I just thought he was the cutest thing. He probably asked me ten times if I wanted to get married."
Burton's interview comes less than a week after biographer Daniel Simone, who interviewed Charles Manson extensively for a book he is writing, revealed that Burton only intends to marry Manson, who is 80 years old, in order to display his corpse in a glass box when he dies. She had allegedly tried to sign herself up to get custody of his body unsuccessfully before news of their marriage came up.
The marriage between Burton and Manson will enable her have legal custody over his corpse when he dies.
While Simone said Manson has called off the marriage after he realized that he has been "played for a fool," a recorded phone conversation between Burton and Manson clearly shows that the two are still in good terms. But it is unclear when the phone call recording was made.
This is not the first time that Manson has denied that he will get married to Burton, who is more than twice younger than him. After she initially announced their marriage to the press, Manson was quoted saying "That's trash." "We're just playing it for public consumption."
