Van Halen - Members of legendary rock group Eddie and Alex Van Halen have signed a worldwide publishing administration deal with an independent music publisher.
Richard Stumpf, CEO of Atlas Music Publishing, announced the deal on 18, Feb. revealing the deal covers the entire Van Halen music catalog with the exception of their last 2012 album- A Different Kind of Truth.
"This deal has been a long time coming. I have been after Irvin Azoff [manager for the Van Halen brothers] Peter Paterno [the brother's lawyer] for five years, to find out if there would ever be an opportunity to work with the Van Halen catalog," Stumpf said.
"They are my favorite all-time band so this is kind of a surreal moment where my professional and personal lives are coming together."
Reports indicate that the Van Halen deal with Atlas music publishing deal marks the first time in the band's long career that their music will be published by an indie company.
Warner/Chappell Music were the pervious company in charge of publishing Eddie and Alex Van Halen's music catalog.
The Atlas deal would include all the band's hit singles and albums that have sold over 90 million copies worldwide.
"We are honored that these musical pioneers have chosen us to represent their songs for years to come. We will help ensure that the new generations of music listeners are keenly aware of just how important VAN HALEN is to the music world and how incredible their songwriting is. Nobody combines melody and musicianship like Ed and AL," Stumpf said.
Van Halen are expected to release a live album on March 31, titled Tokyo Dome Live In Concert. The album features performances of 23 tracks from all the seven albums recorded with singer Davis Lee Roth as the front man.
The album would also feature songs from the A Different Kind of Truth, a reunion project was recorded in Tokyo Dome In Japan on June 21, 2013.
