Gmail Updates With More Emojis, Themes

Gmail is updating, and guess what? More themes and emoji characters will be added.

Blob-like emojis, previously known as emoticons, were recently introduced to Google's email service, as part of the expansion of its emoji library, according to The Verge.

The emoji characters, used to better express someone's feelings or what that person is currently doing while having a chat conversation, can be inserted by the users while creating a mail.

The smiling icon at the bottom part bar is the option to insert these picture-based expressions — along with Google Drive, link and attachment. They were initially instituted with the company's Hangouts service, an application extension to chrome where you can connect with your family and friends via chat or video call.

Adding to the excitement of these emojis updates are the new themes. The firm has added hundreds of high-resolution wallpapers, some were from other Google users and others have been clicked by the company employees, according to Slash Gear.

If this doesn't work for you, the option to upload personalized images is still there. After selecting the background, Google gives options to the users to edit.

Users can choose from blur to vignette and add text to the background to mix and match. According to the company, the update will be rolled out in the next few days.

Meanwhile, Google announced last week that the "Undo Send" feature, which was introduced in 2009, has been officially added as a Gmail feature. This is in line with the company's goal for the users to have a better email experience both in desktop and mobile phones.

An Oath support for all Yahoo and Microsoft accounts was added by the company on Android. Its main purpose is to give extra security and protection, plus, a two-step confirmation and account recovery, NDTV Gadgets learned.
