Oh no! Did Sinéad O'Connor just called Kim Kardashian a c—t? Well, the 48-year-old Irish singer is unimpressed with Rolling Stone magazine's July 16 issue where soon-to-be mom-of-two is the cover model. In O'Connor's distaste, she took to Facebook and announced she's boycotting the magazine through an expletive-filled social media slur.
In just a short span of time that Sinéad O'Connor posted her Facebook rant against Kim Kardashian, the message has been shared over 10,000 times, liked over 36,000 times and commented on 6000 times before it was deleted.
"What is this c--t doing on the cover of Rolling Stone? Music has officially died," she wrote, "Who knew it would be Rolling Stone that murdered it? Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh can no longer be expected to take all the blame. Bob Dylan must be f--king horrified. #BoycottRollingStone"
In spite of the fact that the post gained mixed reactions, some netizens also echoed Sinéad O'Connor's disappointment in the Kim Kardashian-cover issue. According to 9 News, several magazine readers voiced their opinions on Rolling Stone's official Facebook page.
Some social media users however, defended Kim Kardashian and Rolling Stone magazine by saying that the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star is not the first non-musician to be featured on the cover, News.com.au noted. Several pointed out that Kim's cover was far less offensive than that the Boston bomber feature two years ago.
"Let's not pretend that this is the first non-musician or even first reality star to be on the cover," Morgan McDonald wrote, "Rolling Stone hasn't been about the music for a long time now. Get over yourself."
Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian is not the first celebrity that Sinéad O'Connor slammed on social media. E! News reported the singer-songwriter also criticized Miley Cyrus for allegedly "stigmatizing" mental illnesses and Justin Bieber. She even accused the music industry for sexualizing performers. O'Connor's Miley Cyrus rant came during the release of Cyrus' highly-controversial video "Wrecking Ball" in 2013.
