The release of Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 model started out as a speculation, along with the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. Trash those rumors because it's finally confirmed.
The newest addition to Samsung's top-of-the-line collection of devices, packed with amazing features, is expected to hit the market in August.
The tablet will come in two variants: one with an 8-inch display and another with 9.7-inch display at 5.66mm — just a little smaller compared to the rumored Galaxy Tab S Pro at 8.4 inches and 10.5 inches. The eight-inch model weighs 265 grams, while the 9.7-inch weighs 389 grams, according to the Tech 2.
In fact, Samsung labeled them as their thinnest and lightest tablets.
The new Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 models will sport 2048x1536 Super AMOLED quality screens, with an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2.1-megapixel front shooter.
Samsung CEO and President of IT and Mobile Division JK Shin said that the new tabs will give users much faster and easier access to superior viewing and productivity.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 models will both have octacore processors, with one quad-core processor at 1.9Ghz and one at 1.3GHz. They will have 3-GB RAM, with 32/64 GB internal memory and a MicroSD slot that is expandable up to 128GB, as per Gizmodo's report.
The device's operating system will be Android 5.0 Lollipop. The sensors for Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 will be pretty much the same — Finger Scanner, Accelerometer, Compass, Hall Sensor, RGB Sensor and Gyroscope.
The audio for both devices can play MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA, Vorbis and FLAC formats.
Meanwhile, the video can cater to H.263, H.264(AVC), MPEG4, VC-1, WMV7, WMV8 and VP8 formats, with recordings at QHD (2560×1440)@30fps and a playback at UHD (3840×2160)@30fps.
In terms of battery life, the eight-inch model will have 4,000mAh, while the 9.7-inch model will have 5,870mAh.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 models will both have Wi-Fi and LTE options, Android Police learned. There is no word yet on the price.
