Brace yourselves! Miley Cyrus is back at the MTV Video Music Awards. This time around she won't be twerking but will be hosting the said musical event instead.
Flashback to 2013, Miley Cyrus was caught in the middle of a controversy when she performed at the MTV Video Music Awards 2013 alongside "Blurred Lines" singer Robin Thicke, clad in what looked like her underwear while wagging her tongue out and twerking around.
Even though there were some people who raised their eyebrows due to her performance, which was a sort of a shocker to all her Hannah Montana fans by the way, twerking kind of stuck in the consciousness of the viewers. Twerking is now synonymous to Miley Cyrus and vise versa. Singer Brandon Beal even released a song called "Twerk It Like Miley," which is currently making rounds on the airwaves.
Bad publicity is still publicity, no wonder MTV invited Miley Cyrus to host this year's Video Music Awards. The "Wrecking Ball" hitmaker has been the talk of the town lately after she went public with her sexuality and started flaunting her relationship with Victoria's Secret model Stella Maxwell.

In the photo collage that Miley Cyrus shared, she could be seen sporting a green, alien costume. The first photo shows Cyrus hidden behind the alien's mask while wearing a sign that reads: "MTV won't let me perform," in reference to her infamous performance. The next photo shows her face and the sign, "So I'm hosting this year's VMAs."
According to Time, Miley Cyrus will be MTV's Video Music Awards first host following Kevin Hart who helmed the show in 2012. The last two years went by without a host.
USA Today reported that Miley Cyrus brought Jesse Helt, a homeless man, as her date at last year's MTV Video Music Awards. "Wrecking Ball" earned her a Moon Man for Video of the Year, which she dedicated to Helt.
