20th Century Fox released a new high definition trailer for "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" Thursday. The running never stops for Dylan O'Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Ki Hong Lee, who will reprise their roles as Thomas, Teresa, Newt and Minho.
The less than three-minute video showed that the "Maze Runner" sequel isn't just about running. It also revealed that Thomas could be tougher than he was.
There was a part in the trailer where Thomas finds a laboratory filled with creepy subjects inside the test tubes. Could those be the Cranks?
Yes, the Cranks. They, described by MTV, as terrifying (or better) as the zombies of "The Walking Dead," are the worst-case scenarios of those people who got the Flare.
The Flare. That is the virus that infected the planet, nearly wiping out the entire humanity.
The "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" clip also unveiled more details about the Scorch, which was described as a wasteland after the catastrophic Flare and several new characters. There was one particular though that was attention-grabbing — Janson, also known as Rat-man.
Janson, the primary antagonist for this installment and second highest member of WICKD, will be played by "Game of Thrones" actor Aidan Gillen.
The original drew praises for the "Teen Wolf" actor and director Wes Ball, according to Variety. It grossed $102 million at the domestic box office.
While everybody's all over the hot new action-packed trailer, USA Today finds it confusing.
All in all, the new "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" trailer received satisfactory feedback. Since its debut on YouTube, it has gotten more than two million views.
Ball's new movie hasn't come out yet, but fans are already looking forward to the next installment, "The Death Cure," E! News has learned.
"Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" will be released on Sept. 18.
