"Arrow" Season 4 spoilers are here again! Stephen Amell's secret vigilante and costumed crime-fighter character, Green Arrow, is returning to The CW for the show's fourth season. While "Arrow" season 3 ended on a surprisingly happy note, the upcoming season will probe deeper on uneasy alliances while rivalries will shift as billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Amell) faces his most difficult challenge yet.
With a new co-showrunner on board, Wendy Mericle, "Arrow" Season 4 will surely expand and create a stack of more creative and diverse episodes. And as Oliver Queen returns to Starling City as Green Arrow, here are 5 exciting new details about the series' fourth installment.
1. Oliver returns with a bunch of brand new skills.
"That five months have passed and Oliver has learned a bunch of new skills," Amell told ComicBook. "But typically when we come back from a hiatus, it's like a new suit or a new bow or he decided that he wanted to take up jiu jitsu. This time around, almost all of the skills pertain to domestic life, which is fun."
2. New episodes will deal with magic and mysticism.
Despite having a very intense and dark tone in its previous season, "Arrow" Season 4 makers will incorporate the fun and fantasy elements of the superhero genre as it work towards closer to its comic book origins, International Business Times noted.
"So, what we are dealing with this year — and I wouldn't say it's as concrete as it was last year when it was like "The Theme: Identity!" — is magic and mysticism," Amell stated. "And Oliver alludes very early on in the season that this is something that he's seen before, so clearly that will play into this year's flashbacks for him."
3. Oliver Queen to pursue his political ambitions?
With "Arrow" Season 4 Episode 2 tiltled, "The Candidate," the series will have a politically-themed installment, where a mayoral candidate will be making an appearance. According to Den of Geek, Jeri Ryan has joined the cast as Jessica Danforth, a mayoral candidate who is extremely devoted to her city and willing to risk her life to stand up for the people.
Moreover, while Oliver is running away from his responsibilities as the hero of Starling City, Oliver Queen could pursue his political ambitions just like in the comics, where he became the mayor in the wake of Infinite Crisis.
4. Why did Oliver Queen return to Starling City?
"Impending doom, as it always does," Amell said as Inquisitr quoted. "Look, our show is our show. I'm not going to spend five episodes in domestic bliss in nowheretown. The show is the show. We come back, five months have happened, and conveniently right when we pick back up again, I get activated, so to speak."
5. New villains will be added in "Arrow" Season 4.
The list of new villains include Double Down (JR Bourne), Baron Blitzkrieg (Brit actor Jimmy Akingbola), Damian Darhk (Neal McDonough) and H.I.V.E., Den of Geek reported.
6. "Arrow" Season 4 will not feature appearances of Hal "Green Lantern" Jordan, Carol "Star Sapphire" Ferris, Dick "Nightwing" Grayson and Ethan Hawke.
"Arrow" showrunner Marc Guggenheim denied what was written on the IMDb page where Green Lantern, Star Sapphire, Nightwing and Ethan Hawke will be having guest appearances on the show.
"That's not true. At all. You can quote me," Guggenheim told ComicBook.
"Arrow" Season 4 is set to premiere on Oct. 7 on The CW.
