"Suicide Squad" is one of the most anticipated movies of 2015. And though it will not hit the theaters until Aug. 5 next year, excitement has already intensified as set photos were leaked online. Previous reports suggested that the upcoming DC Comics film won't be about Gotham's evil rogue, but the latest set images hinted on The Joker's origin story.
After more than two decades, "Suicide Squad" might take fans to a journey back to the origin of Gotham's most despicable psychotic supervillain, The Joker. International Business Times noted that the last time that a movie delved into his journey from being a mobster to the mentally deranged Clown Prince of Gotham was in 1989, in Tim Burton's "Batman," featuring veteran actor Jack Nicholson playing the role.
Now, in the latest plot update, which came through a set of leaked on-set photos, "Suicide Squad" director David Ayer will delve into The Joker's origin story as a scene at Ace Chemicals was revealed. The set images were posted by the members of the "Suicide Squad" crew, Fansided has learned.
"For those who don't know, Ace Chemicals is where the Joker fell into a vat of chemicals, giving him his trademark white skin, green hair, and red lips," Batman-News stated.
Since The Joker is not a member of "Suicide Squad," the film will definitely not be about him. But, he is going to be the most intriguing supervillain ever, who is sick, evil and violent and he's going to enjoy every moment of it.
Meanwhile, "Suicide Squad" has a huge, star-studded cast including Will Smith (Deadshot), Jared Leto (Joker), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), Karen Fukuhara (Katana), Jay Hernandez (El Diablo), Adam Beach (Slipknot) and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller). Scott Eastwood, Ike Barinholtz, Jim Parrack, Common, Alex Meraz, David Harbour and Raymond Olubowale have also been cast in unspecified roles, as previously reported.
In other news, Marvel's newest Spider-Man Tom Holland has recently invaded the set of "Suicide Squad." As per Movie Web, Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg) ignited Marvel and DC Comics fandom's excitement after he posted a photo of Holland armed himself with innumerable bullets and a massive gun on Instagram on Jul. 21.
"Suicide Squad" is set to premiere on Aug. 5, 2016. For now, check out the trailer below.
