Reputable leaker Evan Blass, also known as @evleaks on Twitter, has revealed new details regarding Motorola's mysterious event scheduled on July 28.
According to the tipster, aside from the rumored 2015 edition of the Moto G handset, the tech giant might also unveil other devices, or possibly new services, during the event.
In a rather cryptic tweet posted on July 26, Blass simply mentioned the names Moto X Play, Droid Maxx II and Moto Surround. Out of the three, it seems the Droid Maxx II is the only one that could refer to an actual device.
Given its name, the Droid Maxx II could be the successor of Motorola Mobility's high-end smartphone released in 2013 for its Verizon Droid line. Although Blass did not mention any details regarding the device, Techno Buffalo speculated that it might come with a bigger display, longer battery life and other upgraded features than the original Droid Maxx handset.
As for the Moto X Play, it might refer to a service or an add-on accessory that could enhance the mobile gaming capabilities of the Moto X smartphone. But since Motorola is preparing to unveil the third generation model of its Moto G, the Moto X Play could turn out as a new device or an updated version of the Moto X 2nd Gen.
Like Moto X Play, the Moto Surround leaked by Blass could either refer to a new device or service. As its name suggests, it might be related to a new music service or a device that can boost a handset's audio quality.
Despite these leaks, the Moto G 3rd Gen still remains as the main subject of the upcoming event. For the past few days, various images of the handset have been surfacing online, according to Tech Times.
Based on the images, the Moto G 2015 will share almost the same exterior design as its predecessor. Other photos showed the handset with a protective film layered over its screen.
As for its features, rumors suggest that the upcoming Moto G model will have dual SIM support and 16GB of native memory. It will also reportedly come with an IPx7 Ingress certification, which indicates that the device can still be used after being submerged in 3 feet of water for about 30 minutes.
Although Motorola has not yet announced the exact launch date for the Moto G 2015, the company is expected to unveil it on July 28 at 8 a.m. CT, Chicago Tribune reported.
