An evasive robber dubbed as the "AK-47 Bandit" has resurfaced in a recent burglary case in Mason City, Iowa after being linked to the Aug. 22 robbery of the First Nebraska Bank in Nebraska City.
The man described by authorities as white, measuring 5'9 to 6' in height, with medium build, possible blue eyes, in his twenties to forties, donning a black ski mask and gloved, is the prime suspect in a Heartland Community Credit Union at 1602 S. Monroe Avenue on Tuesday.
The suspect carried with him his signature AK-47, an assault rifle with a drum magazine similar to the weapon seen in his previous robberies, and a duffel bag, KVNU reported.
Once done with the crime, the man drove off with an undisclosed amount of cash in a dark-colored, four-door vehicle bearing no license plate on the front.
He also left behind a suspicious-looking device, which the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) bomb squad later cleared to be safe.
The FBI released photos of the suspect who is said to have shot and wounded an officer in Chino, California, in 2012 amid a bank robbery at the time.
The AK-47 bandit has been linked to four other bank robberies across several states, with the First Nebraska Bank case being the latest.
"He has shown he is not afraid to shoot someone, and experience tells us he is not going to stop robbing banks until we catch him", Special Agent Kevin Boles said in September of 2014, as per Sentinel Republic.
A reward of up to $100,000 is being offered by the FBI for information that leads to the suspect's arrest and conviction in relation to the 2012 shooting of a police officer, ABC News has learned.
Any person who can provide information on the incident is urged to contact local police or phone CrimeStoppers at 800-388-0088.
