"Avatar 2" Spoilers — It has almost been six years that "Avatar" fans have been waiting for James Cameron's highly anticipated sci-fi sequel, "Avatar 2." Unfortunately, it has been delayed for another year and is instead set to hit theaters in 2017.
Aside from "Avatar 2," eager fans will be definitely thrilled because other "Avatar" installments will also follow. But for now, here are 5 exciting scoops about the much-awaited "Avatar" sequel.
1. "Avatar 2" Release Date
The second "Avatar" installment is set to be released in December 2017, International Business Times noted. The subsequent sequels, "Avatar 3" and "Avatar 4," will be released on the same month in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
2. "Avatar 2" Premiere Delay
The film's production and release was delayed due to lack of technology. According to Clapway, acclaimed director James Cameron revealed that the new creatures and sceneries will be featured in Pandora in the upcoming sequel. And in order to showcase his innovative ideas, Cameron said that technology is much needed. He said that the new technology will help him motion-capture underwater scenes with ease. While the updated motion-capture technology will help show enhanced facial expressions. And a new lighting system will light up the frame featuring Pandora's jungle much better.
3. "Avatar 2" Cast
Actors Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington are set to reprise their roles as Neytiri and Jake Sully in the second installment of the 2009 highest-grossing movie. Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang are also set to come back, despite their characters' demise in the first film, Venture Capital Post has learned.
4. "Avatar 2" Plot
Zoe Saldana revealed that she had a sneak peek at the script as Cameron told them about the story. And she hinted that the sequel might probably be an emotional one for all "Avatar" fans.
"We kind of get choked up," Zaldana told MTV. "[Cameron] gets emotional telling us about the story. I get emotional hearing about it, so I'm looking forward to it."
In spite of earlier reports that Jake Sully will be embarking on a new journey on a different planet, "Avatar 2" will return to Pandora but in a different locale, Latino Post revealed. Variety added that Weaver's Dr. Grace Agustine will make a comeback in the next two sequels of the film and Lang's Col. Miles Quaritch will be the major antagonist.
5. "Avatar 2" Trailer
There has been no official trailer yet, but several fan-made trailers have circulated on YouTube.
