"Fancy" singer Reba McEntire and husband of 26 years Narvel Blackstock are asking for "respect" and "privacy" now that they have officially announced that they have split. The country singer and her manager-husband announced their separation on Monday, E! News reported.
McEntire and Blackstock's separation came as a total shock to their fans, so it's not surprising that some speculated right away that trouble in paradise may have led the two to finally call it quits.
The speculation emerged after Reba and Narvel confirmed in their breakup announcement posted on the singer's website that they have been separated for a couple of months prior to their admission.
"In a joint statement, Narvel Blackstock and Reba McEntire have announced that they have been separated for the past few months, after 26 years of marriage," the post read.
However, the couple assured fans that they will continue to work together just like what they have been doing for the past 35 years.
"Despite this being the end of their marriage, they continue to support each other. They have worked together for 35 years and will continue to do so. They have asked that you respect their privacy during this time," the statement read.
As of late, a representative for the now ex-couple has declined to comment on the issue, as per Billboard.
The last time the two were seen together was in April. They reportedly attended the Academy of Country Music Awards in Texas at the time after McEntire's "Love Somebody" album debuted a No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Reba McEntire and Narvel Blockstock tied the knot in 1989. They have one son together named Shelby, who is a race car driver.
On the other hand, Narvel Blackstock is a father to three more children from first wife Elisa Gayle Ritter. They are Chassidy Celeste, Shawna Rene and Brandon Brandon, who is Kelly Clarkson's husband.
It isn't clear yet whether McEntire and Blackstock have already fired for divorce, according to Huffington Post.
