Nintendo, earlier this year, made an announcement about developing NX, a next generation console. However, the release date, specs and details about the new product were not revealed which made the gamers wonder what was behind the company's move.
The reason why they disclosed the information about the forthcoming product was to let their consumers know that they were still committed in the gaming console market, Kit Guru learned.
Nintendo of America's Executive VP of Sales, Scott Moffitt, told the Examiner that the announcement was about reinforcing the company's commitment to dedicated game platforms.
When the NX will hit the market remains unclear, but many are speculating that it will be released in 2016.
The company also remains tight-lipped about the NX's specifications. Based on the information that has been widely released so far, the new product will be totally different from the company's existing ones — Wii U and 3DS.
The Japan-based company confirmed that the new project had a brand-new concept and platform. This means that the installed base will have to start from zero.
While many are waiting for more updates, news emerged online of Square Enix, developer and publisher of games like "Final Fantasy" and "Kingdom of Hearts," considering to develop a game for the new console when it comes out.
The game developer announced that "Dragon Quest 11," a game for PlayStation 4 and 3DS platforms, will also be available in Nintendo's next gen console, as per the report of Game Espresso.
The thing is, Nintendo already said that they are not going to discuss NX until 2016.
Following the "Dragon Quest 11" announcement, Nintendo Enthusiast reported that Square Enix released a statement to clarify what they meant.
The statement the developer/publisher forwarded to Kotaku states: "Our press release contained the official statement that had been originally planned, and there is no reason to believe any changes were made mid-way to the content of the official announcement. The comment made during the event was not based on the official statement, so please allow us to correct our statement at this moment. We regret any confusion this may have caused."
