Heath Ledger's Joker is back seven years after the actor's death. This time, the villainous character he portrayed so well is giving the late "Dark Knight" actor's fans some chills as part of a German documentary about Ledger.
Entertainment Weekly has learned that Heath Ledger's diary has been exposed by the actor's father, Kim Ledger, as part of the documentary.
The Joker diary apparently contains all sorts of things and details on what Heath did to portray the cunning and vile character effectively.
Heath's father even revealed through the documentary that his son locked himself up as part of his preparation for the role that bagged him a posthumous Best Supporting Actor award at the 2009 Oscars.
"He pretty well locked himself up in a hotel, in his apartment, for a month or so, to sort of galvanize the upcoming character in his own mind," the actor's father said.
Kim Ledger then went on to say, "That was typical of Heath on any movie. He would certainly immerse himself in the upcoming character. I think this was just a whole new level."
In the teaser clip of the documentary, Kim Ledger could be seen flipping through the pages of Heath Ledger's diary — some containing scribbles of cards, photos of hyenas and even stills of "A Clockwork Orange's" Alex DeLearge.
Ledger, who passed away at the age of 28 in 2008, also scribbled the words "BYE BYE" in the diary, a gesture he did prior to the end of filming for "The Dark Knight," as revealed by his father, 9News.com.au reported.
"Before the end of the shooting he wrote 'bye bye' on the back of the page," Heath's dad says in the clip. "It was hard to see this."
Health Ledger managed to finish shooting the film prior to his death, which according to an expert medical examiner was due to an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.
However, as per New York Daily News, there have been rumors and speculations at the time that Ledger may have died because his portrayal of the homicidal sociopath Joker took a toll on the Aussie actor's life.
