The well-loved Disney animated film "The Lion King" is finally getting a spin-off called "The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar." Some of Hollywood's top guns will lend their voices to the returning characters of the popular 1994 animated film.
"Brothers & Sisters" alum Rob Lowe and "Bad Boys" star Gabrielle Union will give life to Simba and Nala, respectively. James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Mufasa, the great Lion King and father to Simba together with Ernie Sabella who will suit up for Pumbaa. Timon portrayed by Kevin Schon and Rafiki played by Khary Payton will also return to Pride Rock.
According to Entertainment Weekly, "The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar" will premiere on Disney Channel in November. The film's story focuses on the second-born son of Simba and Nala named Kion and the members of the Lion Guard, a commando of animals tasked with the preservation of the Pride Lands. The brave lion cub, portrayed by "The Strain" actor Max Charles, is also the leader of the group, while Shaffer plays an egret, Ono; Diamond White plays a cheetah called Fuli; Joshua Rush portrays a honey badger, Bunga and Dusan Brown portrays a hippo called Beshte.
The "Lion King" spin-off will be directed by Howy Parkins and its music and soundtrack will be coming from Christopher Willis and Beau Black.
Entertain This! revealed that Matthew Broderick previously voiced the adult Simba in the 1994 "The Lion King." As for Rob Lowe, this won't be his first time of doing voices. He has already worked in the animated film Captain Marvel's "Shazam!"
"The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar" will debut as a Disney Channel movie and will be followed by a "Lion Guard" TV series to be released on Disney Channel and Disney Junior in early 2016, as per CBS News.
