"Want to Want Me" singer Jason Derulo said he's considering buying his own plane after he and his crew were kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight on Saturday.
According to TMZ, the incident occurred while Derulo and his group were at an airport in Nevada to board a flight to Los Angeles. Since the TSA pre-check procedure was unavailable at that time, Derulo asked one of the employees of the airport if they could get an escort so that they could pass through the check-in area faster.
However, their request was denied which caused one of Derulo's bodyguards to get into a heated verbal argument with one of the airport employees.
Despite this, the singer and his crew were still able to board their plane. However, once onboard, they were told by a staff member that they were not allowed to stay on the flight. Airport security then showed up and escorted Derulo and his entourage off the plane.
The group then decided to hire a private jet instead in order to get to Los Angeles.
In a statement released by the Southwest Airlines, the company said the singer and his companions did not behave properly while inside the airport.
"According to our employees, the group refused to follow boarding procedures," the company told ET Online. "Initial reports indicate that several customers complained about the group's behavior."
"Our crew, responsible for the safety and comfort of all customers on board, attempted to diffuse the situation; ultimately, local authorities were called and the decision was made to deny boarding to the group," Southwest Airlines added.
However, according to the singer, the airline company did not treat them properly. Derulo maintained that his group only requested for an escort in order to avoid causing a public disturbance.
The 25-year-old artist then said that he learned a lot from that experience. And, as a solution to avoid going through the same situation in the future, he said he will buy a private jet. He also fired his travel agent because of what happened between his group and Southwest Airlines, US Magazine reported.
